About us
We are here to help parents raise happy and healthy children
Every child deserves support during the most important years of their development
At Brain Waves Occupational Therapy, we know that the early years shape everything. When a child is struggling with sensory processing, attention, or everyday tasks, the whole family feels it. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out — that’s what we’re here for.
We take a holistic, strengths-based approach to pediatric occupational therapy. That means we lead with what your child is already good at, then build from there. Our sessions are centered around play — because play isn’t just something children do, it’s how they learn, develop, and make sense of the world.
We work with children ages 0–10 across San Luis Obispo County, CA, and partner closely with families, teachers, and caregivers to make sure progress reaches far beyond our sessions.
Founder & Licensed Occupational Therapist
I’m Ellery Lockwood, a registered, licensed occupational therapist in California. I started Brain Waves Occupational Therapy because I believe every child deserves to be seen for their strengths — not just their challenges.
I specialize in sensory integration and trauma-informed care for children ages 0–10, and hold a specialty certification in advanced ADHD rehabilitation and treatment. I work with a wide range of diagnoses and approach each child as a whole person, not a checklist.
Play-Based
Every session is built around your child's natural way of learning. Play is the method, not just the medium — and that's what makes progress stick.
Strengths-Based
We start with what your child can do and build from there. Every child brings something to the table, and we make sure they know it.
Trauma-Informed
We create a safe, consistent space where every child feels seen, respected, and ready to grow at their own pace.
Collaborative
We work side by side with parents, teachers, and caregivers so that the growth your child makes in sessions carries into everyday life.
